Therapy That Feels Like Home.

At Home Away from Home Therapeutic Center LLC, we are a culturally responsive, trauma-informed mental health care team dedicated to creating spaces where healing feels safe, supportive, and welcoming. We believe people heal best when they feel truly seen, heard, and respected — without judgment and with compassion.

Our approach centers emotional safety, trust, collaboration, and empowerment, allowing clients to engage in care at their own pace while building resilience, confidence, and lasting well-being. By honoring lived experience, cultural identity, and personal strengths, we provide therapy that feels less like a clinical setting and more like a place of belonging, growth, and hope.

At HAHTC, home is where healing begins.

WHO WE ARE

Home Away from Home Therapeutic Center LLC (HAHTC) is a grassroots, trauma-informed outpatient mental health practice rooted in Louisville’s West End and serving individuals and families across Kentucky. Founded and led by Dr. Shaquilla N. Cooper, HAHTC was created to provide a safe, culturally responsive space where healing, growth, and empowerment can truly begin.

ABOUT US

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We believe therapy should feel like home — warm, affirming, and accountable.

At HAHTC, our work is guided by trauma‑informed care, cultural humility, and a deep respect for lived experience. We prioritize quality over volume, relationships over transactions, and healing that leads to long‑term stability — not dependency.

This philosophy shapes how we care for clients and how we support our clinicians

COMMUNITY COMMITMENT

Our commitment extends beyond the therapy room. We actively engage in community education, outreach, partnerships, and resource connection to remove barriers to care and strengthen the communities we serve. By meeting people where they are — emotionally, culturally, and practically — we expand access to mental health services and uplift the importance of healing for individuals, families, and future generations.

At HAHTC, grounded care means real-life healing that supports both personal growth and community transformation.
